Barrier Numbers Still Low
Barrier numbers are still low in comparison to the same time last year at both the Northwest and the Dungarvon Barriers. Rumour has it there are fish in the bay waiting to come in – all we can do is wait.
Salmon and grilse now total 258 at the Northwest Barrier compared to 790 the same time last year. Brook trout numbers are down as well. Totals as of August 19th are shown below.

The Dungarvon Barrier did not fair any better this past week with only 237 in total arriving at the barrier as of August 19th compared to 702 the same time last year. Brook trout numbers are unchanged from last week with 63 arriving to date compared to 27 in 2011.
